In my quest to overcome a lifelong dance with depression I’m learning about and practicing mindfulness and meditation daily. In a relatively short period of time I’ve gone from highly skeptical to total excitement because my online research has found scientific that mediation does work to control, ease or end depression.

I also highly recommend you read the The Mindful Way through Depression book to help you understand the cause of your depression, why it may be getting worse rather than better the more you try to fix yourself and how you can change your brain to control or beat depression.

Zindel Segal, PhD, is the Morgan Firestone Chair in Psychotherapy at the University of Toronto and Head of the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Unit at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, is internationally known for his work as a bestselling author, scientist, and meditation teacher. He is Professor Emeritus of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
