Overcoming Anxiety with Exercise and Adventure

Anxiety sucks but it’s extremely common, affecting many of us at one stage of our lives and some people almost constantly.

I’ve struggled with anxiety all my life but still managed to travel all over the world, live in eight different countries and fulfil my dream of adventure including white water rafting, mountain climbing and all kinds of other crazy things.

Now I’m writing a book about how I’ve managed to overcome my anxiety, what works and what doesn’t. How to overcome anxiety contains these latest thoughts on anxiety with tips about how you can overcome it.

The old song “Don’t worry be happy” sounds great but sadly it’s not that easy for true sufferers of anxiety and depression. You can’t  just switch your mindset and in fact actively trying to repress certain feeling like anxiety will actually make them stick around even worse. Or they may appear to disappear briefly only to come back with a vengeance later.

If you suffer from anxiety and you want to know how to overcome anxiety then you’re going to have to accept that anxiety is part of you. It’s never going away although you can learn to control it and get on with life despite your anxiety.

Even the most accomplished public speakers still get anxious before they talk they’ve just learnt to harness that anxiety and channel it into an energetic, powerful speech. You have to make friends with anxiety and work with it, acknowledge anxiety and live with it. That’s the way to overcome anxiety but this is only a brief overview.
