Visitor Stats for April, May, June 2009: Definite Upward Trend
Writing a blog’s an up and down thing. One day I love it, then the next day I wonder why I bother at all. Especially when my dear husband sends me cruel little jokes about bloggers like that one, where bloggers are compared unfavorably to monks. I hardly found it funny at all, so I think I’ve been spending too much time writing and not doing enough living.
The Difference Between a Blog and a Website
Since bloggers are the butt of jokes these days I’m not calling In the Hot Spot a blog anymore. From now on, if you ask me, it’s officially a website. Well, what’s the difference anyway? I won’t get started on that now, but what I’m aiming for here is a dynamic website, with easy to find and useful information that’s topical and updated often. Hopefully the archiving will improve when I relocate it to my own domain name and revamp the site. Soon soon!

Good News For Hard Working Bloggers
The good news is that my blog statistics show a definite upward trend, and the number of people who’ve subscribed to my email updates is growing slowly, but surely, too. But it’s going to be a long journey to achieve my goal. I suppose it’s now that I need to remember that it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon. All I can really do is keep writing away, enjoying it and finding more funny, inspirational and/or weird stories that keep us all on track in hot pursuit of out dreams.
Shortcut To Success
That was a naughty trick because there are no shortcuts to success. I think we all know this in our hearts although it’s fun to imagine that there may be a quick route to achieve our dreams. In the end, it all comes down to this. If you want to succeed at something you need to:
- • work hard
• stay motivated
• keep focused
• persevere.
You’ll get there in the end.

Hey, I have to say that I did like the monks joke… Probably the big difference is that monks just copy content and that bloggers create new content.
You made a great comparison there with the sprint and the marathon. I also think that the secret of becomming a well known blogger. You can’t expect that people start following you for just a couple of posts. And even though you have those days when you’re wondering why you’re spending all that time, you just have to be persistent. Actually, as I think about it…it’s kinda like the monks 🙂
From what I hear some blogger actually do copy other people’s content! But not me, I’m a hard-working monk, ooops, I mean blogger, no writer, toiling away to create new and exciting writing. Thanks for reading. I hope we can both keep at it.

Your ‘website’ is great! ‘Blog’ sounds a bit amateur, I think. It all takes a lot of time and perseverance but you’re succeeding and entertaining people along the way. That makes it worth it.

Well, I tried! I sat and wrote what could have been the funniest, wittiest, most insightful piece of written word looking into the life of another since Anne Frank’s Diary! Shame it is now lost in cyber-space… (I hope no-one finds it now as it has a lot to live up to!) I took it as a kick in the teeth, like it is not meant to be, that computers are actually sent by the devil to make me feel incapable of achieving anything! Damn Beelzebub and his little toys (he can take back mosquitoes as well!) Well, seeing as this is now a war against good and evil I shall have to write it again! And, I shall write it 10 times better….In your face Lucifer!
That is truly a nightmare. From now on I want to you write your posts in a word document and save them every five minutes then, when you’re ready, post them into your blog and try again. Glad to hear you’ll be persevering! You’ll find that what took you you an hour or two to write first time round will gush out in twenty or thirty minutes this time round. And probably be all the better for it. I can’t wait to read it. We must not let technology get the better of us! We cannot let geeks take over the world:)
